Youth Tour & Leadership Camp
Youth Leadership Camp
During this week long camp in July students have the opportunity to be educated on how co-ops work and what is going on in the electric industry.
Each cooperative has its own qualifications for participation in the Youth Leadership Camp. If you are interested in attending the camp contact your local electric cooperative.
In June, more than 1,300 high school students from around the country spend a week in the nation’s capitol as part of the National Rural Electric Cooperatives Associations Youth Tour. WREA sponsors three (3) students to attend and local cooperatives have the opportunity to sponsor additional students. Wyoming cooperatives are committed to educating the youth of America and the role electric cooperatives play in their communities.
While in Washington, DC students who participate on the tour learn about electric cooperatives, American history and government. Youth Tour participants fly to Washington where they meet and visit with their representatives in the House and the Senate. Students also visit historic sties in Washington, DC such as the Lincoln and Jefferson Memorials, Mount Vernon, Arlington National Cemetery, the Smithsonian, and many more.
